Community Alarm operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The friendly team receive calls and provide equipment to help over 3,500 local people live independent lives with greater confidence.

Our service helps disabled and frail people plus those who have recently been discharged from hospital. We also support people who are at risk of falls or domestic violence. Residents who need our help will press the red button on their alarm to be put straight through to us.

This is a rewarding role where no two days are the same. Your time will be split into three key areas:

  • Covering the phones and answering calls to residents from our Civic base

  • Out and about in one of our Community Alarm vehicles responding to an emergency call

  • Within the homes of service users, installing and maintaining equipment (full training included)

We’re seeking people who have excellent communication skills, who are caring, empathetic and want to make a difference to the lives of others.

You’ll be flexible and enjoy meeting members of the community.

Whilst the role can be challenging, you’ll join a friendly team with a dedicated manager always on shift. We also offer full training and development opportunities.

A full UK driving licence is required.

There’s a requirement to work 12-hour shifts, 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am, with a shift pattern of four shifts working followed by four days off, 365 days per year (including weekends and bank holidays). It’s a repeating pattern and you will know your shifts at least 16 weeks in advance to help you maintain a work/life balance. In return, we offer an additional ‘alternative working pattern payment’ of 10%.

“Never be afraid to ask hundreds of questions and to repeat them a hundred times, everyone is here to help each other just as much as we are here to help our service users and none of us would be here if we didn’t like helping others..”
